MDC offering hunter education classes

The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering hunter education classes in the northwest region.

Media Specialist with the Missouri Department of Conservation Bill Graham says the class is for everyone.

"They'll get some instruction on how firearms work, how to safely handle firearms, some basics about wildlife and conservation.  It's been a very successful program to help improve safety in the field for hunters.  Most of the people that take are young hunters who are now just starting to hunt, but we also have sometimes adults who are picking up hunting or moved into the state who also need to get the certification."

The classes are required to receive a hunting license in the state of Missouri.
